MFI offers transportation only to missionaries affiliated with MFI and those going to work with an affiliated missionary.  All flight reservations, except for affiliated missionaries, require written permission from the field director of the mission you are going to work with.   After you determine that you qualify to fly with MFI by either being affiliated or going to work with a missionary who is affiliated, you can proceed with the following steps.

MFI normally flies to Cap Haitien, Haiti every Tuesday and Thursday.  Each Thursday, MFI also flies to Port-au-Prince, Haiti.  Every other Tuesday, there is a flight to Santiago, Dominican Republic.   All MFI flights depart from and return to Fort Pierce, Florida.

b. your body weight

c. the amount of excess baggage weight, if needed

d. permission from the field director of the mission you will be working with if you are not personally affiliated with MFI.

CHECK IN:

On the day before the flight from Ft. Pierce, all passengers must either check-in or call our office by noon with a scaled weight of all baggage and carry-ons.  If checking in on the day prior to the flight, please plan to have a small overnight bag so your main suitcase can be loaded after check-in.  Your reservation includes 50 lbs. of baggage for each adult and 25 lbs. for children 2-11 years old.  If space is available, additional baggage can be taken for $1.50/lb.   MFI must be informed at least a week ahead of time if anyone plans to take more than 50 pounds or any large items.  Extra baggage weight not reserved may not go on the flight.  On the day of departure from Ft. Pierce, please go directly to the Missionary Flights Hangar located at 3170 Airmans Dr. in Ft. Pierce at 6:00 am for passenger boarding.

HERTZ:

Since MFI has relocated to St. Lucie Co. Airport in Ft. Pierce, FL, most of our passengers fly into either West Palm Beach or Orlando, and use Hertz for one way car/van rentals.  The MFI hangar parking lot is the pick-up and drop off point for both inbound and outbound Hertz rentals.  Other car rental companies do not have nearby offices or are not open early in the morning, which makes it impossible to return your car before the plane departs.  For one way Hertz rentals coming to Ft. Pierce you can get MFI’s corporate rate by making your reservation using the CDP –ID# 1738058.  Those “inbound” reservations can be made by calling Hertz at 1(800) 654-3131, or using by using the internet at www.Hertz.com.

Our corporate rate will give you a 20% discount.  For local or one way rentals being picked up at MFI you can receive an even better rate (see the chart below).  These rates are ONLY available if you call the local Ft. Pierce Hertz office at 772-429-0228 and tell them you are with MFI.  These rates do NOT include taxes, airport fees, or insurance.  One way rates below are to any Florida Hertz drop-off point.  Local rates are for pick up in Ft. Pierce and return to Ft. Pierce.  The best option is to use the CDP# for your reservation to Ft. Piece and call the local Ft. Pierce office for your rental departing Ft. Pierce.

The rates in the chart below only apply to vehicles picked up in Ft. Pierce.  Please note that prices listed below are subject to change.

ACADIANA SHUTTLE:

Groups of up to 37 people can hire a shuttle van/bus by calling Acadiana at 866-786-9979 or 772-489-0900.  Acadiana can pick up your group from PBIA, The Best Western, or Orlando, and drop them off at MFI’s hangar in Ft. Pierce.  The cost below is for the round trip of your group on two separate days.  A 15% tip for the driver is customary.  Please note that prices listed below are subject to change.

If teams arrive in West Palm Beach or Orlando, Acadiana will transport the team to the Sleep Inn the day prior to the MFI flight.  They will also pick you up the next morning and bring you to the MFI hangar at 6 AM at no additional charge.

For your return trip back to the U.S., if departing from PBIA the next day, we suggest you make hotel arrangements at the Best Western in West Palm Beach.  On rare occasions, MFI does still land in West Palm Beach before returning back to Ft. Pierce.  This happens only when our plane arrives back in the U.S. after the Ft. Pierce customs office closes (7 p.m.), or when our airplane load is too large for the Ft. Pierce customs office to handle (more than 18 passengers).  The decision to land in West Palm Beach is usually not made until the departure time that day from the islands.  In the event that MFI is required to land in West Palm Beach, a reservation at the Best Western would avoid the need for a rental car from Ft. Pierce to West Palm Beach, since the Best Western can shuttle you from the West Palm customs building to the hotel.

HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS & SUITES (in Ft. Pierce):

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites is a four story hotel located a stone’s throw from the turnpike toll booth in Ft. Pierce.  The Holiday Inn is a brand new facility that opened in September, 2009.  It has a large lobby, a computer room, fitness facility, and guest laundry.  They provide a hot breakfast bar each morning, and is the ultimate choice for those with a big morning appetite.  There is also an outdoor heated pool.  The hotel has a total of 94 rooms containing two queen beds or one king bed, as well as wired and wireless high-speed internet, 32" flat screen televisions with HDTV, microwave and refrigerators, iron and ironing boards, hair dryers, and much more.  Suites are available for an additional $20 per night.  Click here for an overview of the facility and its amenities.  Please call their local office at 772-464-5000 and ask for the MFI rate.  The Holiday Inn Express & Suites also works well for those traveling in small groups and using Hertz rental cars/vans.  The hotel is willing to accommodate early breakfast times.  Please contact the Hotel General Manager, Pam Haney if you or your group will require breakfast prior to 6:00AM.

SLEEP INN (in Ft. Pierce):

The Sleep Inn is a fairly new four story hotel located on Highway 70, less than a mile from both the Ft. Pierce Turnpike exit and Exit 129 off of I-95.  They have a total of 67 rooms.  38 rooms have two double beds and 29 have one king size bed.  There is an outdoor unheated pool, wireless high-speed internet, free HBO and coin-operated laundry.  Each room also has a small refrigerator and a microwave.  The Sleep Inn also provides a small continental breakfast at 5:30 am each Tuesday and Thursday for MFI passengers.  For reservations at the Sleep Inn, call 772-595-6080 and be sure you ask for the MFI corporate rate.  The Sleep Inn works well for those traveling in small groups and using Hertz rental cars/vans.  If you choose to use the Acadiana shuttle, please be aware that there is an additional charge to transport you to MFI the following morning.  There is NO shuttle service from the Sleep Inn to MFI’s hangar.  NEW MFI-HAITI RELIEF SPECIAL - 1 EXTRA FREE ROOM WITH EVERY 5 ROOMS BOOKED.

FAIRFIELD INN & SUITES (in Ft. Pierce):

The Fairfield Inn & Suites is a brand new "Green" hotel located about 8 miles away from Missionary Flights International.  The hotel is situated southwest of the intersection of I-95 and State Route 70.  Please visit their website or call for directions.  This hotel features suites with separate living and sleeping areas, microwave and mini-refrigerators, free high speed internet, in-room hair dryer, iron and ironing board, and coffee maker.  There is also a heated outdoor pool and whirlpool, as well as an exercise room.  A deluxe continental breakfast is offered from 6:00am-9:30am with daily hot items and fresh fruit.  If you need a breakfast before 6:00am to catch our early flight, please make a request with the hotel at the time of your reservation and at "check-in" for a "bag" breakfast.  For reservations, call 772-462-2900, using our special rate codes "MFLB" for a king bed or "MFLF" for 2 Queen beds.

BEST WESTERN FORT PIERCE INN (in Fort Pierce):

The new Best Western Fort Pierce Inn has won the Quality Assurance Award ever since it opened in January, 2006.  With inside corridors and complimentary Hi-Speed Internet access, this affordable hotel is where you will wish to stay in Fort Pierce.  Located only 7.5 miles from the Missionary Flights International Hangar at the St. Lucie County International Airport, this beautiful hotel is located midway between I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, one block south of Okeechobee Road.  Each beautifully decorated room features a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, iron, ironing board, and an in-room safe for your convenience.  Each room has either a king or two queen beds and there are a limited number of rooms with two queens and a sofa bed.  There is a business center, a fitness center, a guest laundry, and a beautiful heated outdoor pool with Jacuzzi.  While there is a complete breakfast buffet served between 6:00AM and 10:00AM, please ask for an “early continental breakfast” the night before an early flight.  Please call for reservations at 772-409-1740 and ask for the special "Missionary Flights" rate.

HAMPTON INN & SUITES (in Ft. Pierce):

The Hampton Inn & Suites is a beautiful brand new hotel with inside corridors.  This hotel is only 7.5 miles away from the Missionary Flights International Hangar at the St. Lucie County International Airport.  Located midway between I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, one block south of Okeechobee Road, this hotel features "Cloud Nine" beds and a delicious breakfast each morning.  Rooms are equipped with complimentary Hi-Speed Internet access, in-room coffee makers, irons, and ironing boards.  You will find a beautiful outdoor heated pool with a Jacuzzi.  You will also find a fitness room, a business center, a guest laundry, and a 24-hour "Suite" shop for those who get the munchies in the middle of the night.  Before your early flight, ask for an "on the run" breakfast bag.  Please call for reservations at 772-828-4100 and ask for the special "Missionary Flights" rate.

COMFORT SUITES (in Ft. Pierce):

Located midway between I-95 and the Florida Turnpike and only 7.5 miles from the Missionary Flights International Hangar at the St. Lucie County International Airport, this new Comfort Suites hotel (opened in January, 2005) has inside corridors and complimentary Hi-Speed Internet access in all rooms.  It is an all suite hotel that is 100% smoke free.  The hotel features large studio suites that can easily accommodate families with children.  Each suite has either two queens or one king bed, a study area with a sofa bed, a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, and an in-room safe for your convenience.  There is a beautiful outdoor pool with Jacuzzi, a business center, a fitness center, and guest laundry.  While there is a complete breakfast buffet served between 6:00AM and 10:00AM, please ask for an "early continental breakfast" the night before an early flight.  Please call for reservations at 772-409-1420 and ask for the special "Missionary Flights" rate.

THE FOUNTAIN RESORT (in Ft. Pierce):

The Fountain Resort motel is located on Highway 1 northeast of the Ft. Pierce airport.  It has a total of 18 quaint rooms that have been recently remodeled.  This motel has a lot more character than the “chain” hotels.  There is a heated outdoor pool/spa and high speed wireless internet access, as well as an exercise room, a game room, and an internet-ready computer.  Coin-operated laundry is also available.  Each room has Satellite TV and a DVD player.  Parking is available right in front of your room.  These rooms are unique in that most of them have a full kitchen.  The rooms are furnished with either a queen bed or two single beds.  A cot can be put in the room with the singles to sleep three comfortably.  It’s best to call to find out what fits your group's needs best.  For guests with pets, the Fountain Resort allows pets for a fee of $50 each.  The Fountain Resort does NOT open their continental breakfast until 7 am.  Therefore, on flight days, passengers cannot take advantage of the continental breakfast.  This might be a good place for missionaries needing a place to stay for a few days in the states, or a long weekend getaway.  If you plan to arrive after 10 pm please arrange for late night check-in.

BEST WESTERN (in West Palm Beach):

MFI still has a corporate rate with the Best Western in West Palm Beach (formerly the Hampton Inn).  There is a new Hampton Inn that was built around the corner from the old one, hence the name change.  The Best Western DOES have a shuttle to and from the Palm Beach Airport, (6am-11pm) but NO shuttle service up to Ft. Pierce.  They have 135 rooms furnished with either two double beds or one king bed.  They have an unheated outdoor pool, high-speed wireless internet, and free Showtime.  A continental breakfast is available from 6am to 9am.  The Best Western works well for large groups that need to hire the Acadiana shuttle to transport them from West Palm to Ft. Pierce.  Acadiana can arrange for a pick up from the Best Western at 4:30 am and get you to Ft. Pierce by 6:00 am on the morning of the flight.  In that case, the 6 am continental breakfast would not be ready.  For your return trip back the U.S., the Best Western works well if you need to connect to an early morning flight out of PBIA.  On rare occasions MFI does still land in Palm Beach before returning back to Ft. Pierce.  This happens only when our plane arrives back in the US after Ft. Pierce customs closes (7 pm) or when our airplane load is too large for the Ft. Pierce customs office to handle (more than 18 passengers).  The decision to land in Palm Beach is usually not made until the departure time that day from the islands.  In the event that MFI is required to land at Palm Beach, a reservation at the Best Western would avoid the need for a rental car from Ft. Pierce to Palm Beach, since the Best Western could shuttle you from the West Palm Customs building to the hotel.  When making reservations please ask for the "Missionary Flights" rate.
